FAQ

How to use this tool to check for a leap year?

Enter the year you want to check in the input box, and the system will instantly show whether that year is a leap year. By default, the result for the current year is displayed.

What is a leap year?

A leap year is a year in which one extra day is added to the calendar to compensate for the difference between the Earth's orbital period and the calendar year. Typically, a leap year occurs every four years, and February in that year has 29 days instead of the usual 28.

What are the rules for determining a leap year?

A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except for years that are also divisible by 100. However, if a year is divisible by 400, it remains a leap year. For example, the year 2000 is a leap year (divisible by 400), 1900 is not (divisible by 100 but not 400), and 2004 is a leap year (divisible by 4 but not 100).
